VT will always be performed by a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent. VT is the one of the fastest and most cost effective inspection methods. It can be performed before welding - fit-up/weld prep, during welding - root pass and interpass evaluation and after welding - cover pass/final 

assembly inspection.

MT is a nondestructive testing method that can be used to locate surface and shallow subsurface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials such as steel, iron, nickle others. This method is fast, reliable and effective. MT can also be implemented before, during and after welding and requires minimal clean up.

PT inspections are highly effective at locating discontinuities such as cracks, porosity, lamination and many other surface defects. It can be completed using visible red dye or a higher contrasting fluorescent dye. Although slower than other methods, PT is just as accurate and can be used on non-porous materials like metals, plastics and ceramics.
